There are two occasions when it's acceptable for a man to cry- when she's using her teeth, and when looking at speakers like that...

I'm really inspired to build the Laguna after seeing these pictures. There's a lot to learn on how Altec made cabinets fittings.
Just to confirm, the port for this speaker is at the bottom?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Indeed! I didn't post them though, a new poster to the DIYaudio forum listed as being from the SF Bay area did and I prodded him to cross post here in the hope of getting some additional details, but apparently he wasn't interested, so I just posted the link.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The Laguna has Altec's standard horn-in-vent except with 1" acoustic fiberglass insulation to damp it.
For the 820, it has a number of 1.5" dia. holes (13/side) in the bottom along with a triangular cutout at the rear combined with a fiberglass 'wedge' blocking off the opening to create a ~aperiodically loaded vent that's formed by the lower side panels and floor with the vent exit across the bottom front.

Great link GM, Thanks.
Leaves me wondering when I'll be able to replce the 604's with some "Big Boys".

Man, that is gorgeous! I just love that mahogany case and oxblood grill cloth look. In fact, I love it so much I hope to simulate it on the cabinets I am building for my 604s I?m pretty sure that I?ve found the right grill cloth at AES (photo below) but I am still looking for a high quality scan of that logo. I?m thinking a little photoshop and some laserjet decal paper should do the trick. Can anybody point me in the right direction for a scan? Thanks,
Marty
